Solid Copper, Made to Order
Not every product marketed as a copper tile is made from solid copper. Many are plated, printed ceramic, or a peel-and-stick film. Everything on this page is solid copper sheet, 0.6 mm, cut and patinated individually — never plated, laminated or printed.

Choosing a Finish
Our copper tiles are available in a selection of carefully developed patinas and finishes.
- Volcanic Earth — our signature copper patina. Mottled brown and black oxidation in irregular passes against exposed copper highlights
- Dark Velvet — the deepest finish in the copper range: near-black brown, soft matte, with quiet warm undertones.
- Rose Feather — brushed satin copper, the lightest and most restrained finish in the range.
Because the patination is a chemical process carried out by hand, no two copper tiles are ever completely identical. This natural variation is part of the character of the material and allows larger installations to achieve the appearance of a genuinely handcrafted surface.
Copper Tiles or a Single Panel?
The same copper finishes are available in both formats, but they create very different visual effects.
Copper tiles introduce a visible grid and a modular rhythm. Because each tile is patinated individually, there is also natural tonal variation from one piece to the next. The overall effect is closer to a handcrafted mosaic than conventional sheet metal, making tiles particularly effective where texture, repetition and variation are part of the design.
The modular format can also be practical for longer installations: individual tiles can be handled more easily during installation, and a damaged tile can potentially be replaced without removing an entire surface.
A single copper panel creates a continuous surface with minimal visual interruption. With no tile joints, it is better suited to minimalist schemes, larger uninterrupted areas or shorter runs where a grid would feel unnecessarily busy.

How to Install Copper Tiles
Copper tiles are fixed with adhesive alone — no drilling, no mechanical fixings, no backer board and no grout. They bond directly to drywall, plaster, plywood or MDF, which makes this a competent-DIY or standard-fitter job rather than a specialist one.
- Prepare the wall. It needs to be flat, dry and free of dust and grease. Level out any uneven areas first.
- Dry-lay before you commit. Set the tiles out on the floor in the intended grid and shuffle them until the darker and lighter pieces are balanced across the run. With a hand-patinated finish, this is the step that decides how the finished wall reads.
- Work to a level line. Mark a line or fix a temporary batten and build up from it. Worktops are rarely truly level, and a grid started off one will drift visibly by the top course.
- Apply the adhesive in dots, staying roughly 2cm away from the edges to prevent "squeeze-out" when the tile is pressed into place. Set the tile tight against its neighbor.
- Let it cure. Wipe any squeeze-out at the joints before it sets, then leave the surface to cure fully to the adhesive manufacturer's instructions before cleaning it or loading anything against it.
How to Care for Copper Tiles
To maintain your copper tiles, gently clean with a soft cloth and mild soap only. Strictly avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these will harm the protective wax, and the patina underneath.
Take extra care to avoid acidic cleaning products such as limescale removers — always read the label first. Even spraying these near the copper or brass panel, such as at a sink or cooker, can send droplets onto the surface and damage the finish.

How thick are copper tiles?
Copper tiles are 0.6mm thick (23 ga). This gauge is intentional — thin enough to cut and shape on-site with standard metalworking tools, while retaining the weight and rigidity of solid metal.
How heavy are copper tiles?
Copper tiles weigh 5.5kg per m², or about 0.5kg per standard 30x30cm tile — light enough to be held securely with construction adhesive alone, no mechanical fixing required.
Can copper tiles be used behind a gas hob?
Yes, our copper tiles are suitable for use behind gas and electric hobs provided there is a minimum distance of 150mm from the heat source.
Can copper tiles be used in a bathroom?
Yes, on walls outside the direct shower spray zone. Solid copper is waterproof, but the wax seal is not intended for constant standing water.
